Rubrics for grading online assignments are essential to facilitating marking at scale. Rubrics tell learners what’s expected of them and what distinguishes each level of competence from the next. Additionally, rubrics ensure consistency when multiple graders are needed to grade the papers in a timely manner when cohorts are large.
